Professional Development Initiative
for Postsecondary CTE Professionals

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity - Workforce Development (LEO-WD) in partnership with CAST and CTE Learn has sponsored an initiative to support and enhance postsecondary professional development for all career and technical education programs in the state.

This Michigan-specific professional learning offering includes a series of online, asynchronous courses designed to support both new and experienced CTE educators. The content in each course was developed based on research from the field, interviews with CTE instructors and administrators across Michigan, and guidance from a statewide advisory board. Each course is grounded in the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework and provides practical, pedagogical support for industry experts who may not have formal training in education.

Four "Getting Started" courses are now available, focusing on essential areas of classroom management and learner engagement. These courses are offered at no cost to all CTE instructors in the state of Michigan. Upon successful completion of at least one course, participants will receive an access key to enroll in an additional course from the CTE Learn library.

More courses are coming soon. The next phase of this initiative will expand into pathway-specific offerings tailored to different CTE program areas.

We are currently seeking CTE educators interested in developing courses aligned to their specific program or pathway. Stipends are available for selected contributors. To learn more or express interest, please contact Monica Pascoa at mpascoa@cast.org.
