Professional Development Initiative
for Postsecondary CTE Professionals

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity - Workforce Development (LEO-WD) in partnership with CAST and CTE Learn has sponsored an initiative to support and enhance postsecondary professional development for all career and technical education programs in the state.

This Michigan specific professional development offering of online asynchronous courses is designed to support both new and seasoned CTE programs. The information in each course was developed based on research from the field, interviews with CTE instructors and administrators from across Michigan, and the support of a state-wide selected advisory board. Each course was built with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as the framework and provides pedagogical support for industry experts who may not have traditional educational training.

Four courses have been created to offer support in four critical yet fundamental areas of classroom management and learner engagement and are being offered to all CTE instructors in the state of Michigan at no cost. Additionally, upon successful completion of at least one of these courses, individuals will receive an access key that can be used to take one additional course from CTE Learn’s library of courses.

The next phase of this initiative will be the development of CTE pathway specific courses that will be added to this site. We are looking for CTE educators willing to create courses for their specific CTE program/pathway. Stipends will be provided.
